Share classes are often used by investment fund promoters to customise their product offering for investors. ESMA’s Opinion on UCITS Share Classes has resulted in a number of important changes to the types of share classes permitted and to the operational requirements around share classes. The next Aquest Tutorial will look at share classes generally (why share classes are set up, how share classes differ from sub-funds, etc.) and will go through the ESMA Opinion to highlight the key changes it has introduced.
